14-Year-Old ‘Kid Warrior’ does the job our leaders can’t do

Aspiring leaders representing the youth? A generation of young activists for real change? Sounds promising. But, is it really due time for a revolution?

Xiuhtezcatl Martinez is not your average teen.

At the rebellious age of 14, he has given a Ted Talk and spoken twice at major United Nation’s forums. President Obama awarded him the Youth Change Maker of the Year Award and he is a member of the Presidential Youth Council to advise the president on youth views and policy.

Xiuhtezcatl Martinez is looking to bring on a global revolution in his lifetime.

Currently a member of the Presidential Youth Council and director of a social enterprise– Earth Guardians, Martinez has already pushed towards creating a good name for himself, demonstrating his strain of thought is well above one of a person his age:

“The earth has been here long before us, and it will continue to be here long after we’ve been wiped out, said Xiuhtezcatl. “The biggest challenge we face is shifting human consciousness, not saving the planet. The planet doesn’t need saving. We do.”

And it doesn’t stop there.

In the TV series, “Year of Living Dangerously”, Martinez was awared the privilege of working alongside huge internationally recognized stars; a few to name are in fact Jessica Alba, Arnold Schwarzenegger and of course, Matt Damon.

So yes, it is no question that Xiuhtezcatl is working his way up.

Xiuhtezcatl Martinez and his younger brother even went as far as to fusing their very own eco hip-hop duo to raise awareness for the better world they want to create.

I know, you’re probably wondering how this turned out, right? Well actually, HBO wholeheartedly decided that they would in fact produce a professional music video for his inspiring and motivational song, ‘Be The Change’.

Now that’s what you call impressive.

Hard work works hard.

But now for the real stuff: how exactly did Xiuhtezcatl go about achieving such great things at such a young age? Two words: work- ethic.

For those who are not familiar with the term, by definition:

work ethic’ is a value based on hard work and diligence. Capitalists believe in the requirement of hard work and its ability to enhance character (according to a source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Work_ethic).

All summer, Martinez worked on studies with National Geographic on an Arctic Expedition. While many teens his age were sleeping and whiling away the hour, this kid was working off his backside to empower the youth in around 25 countries to demand much more environmentally friendly policies and created links for himself, becoming recognized and respected worldwide.

‘Created links? What does that mean?’

It means: he networked.

He had his mindset on reaching out to the youth, so he made sure he spoke to youth of all ages reaching out to more than just his hometown in order to get his cause known. Not only did he consult with youths, no, he consulted with the higher powers. Yep, the ones who are up there with all the authority to govern a change. He made sure he got his message across to more than just his friends from school, he went as far as to reaching out to people in high accumulation of authority( a.k.a the UN)

Whats makes you spark?

Many of you reading this will have something that you feel so passionately about, something that ignites a wildfire within your mind that you just have to morph it into reality. It may be that you dream of owning a multi-million pound company, or that you have always wanted to bring about a change in the world that you still haven’t seen yet. Whatever it is, just know that you can’t get there alone.

Network

Humans are created to connect. Interaction is our nature. If we don’t start networking, meeting and discussing with like-minded individuals, then how can we ever go about achieving our personal goals?

Next step

So take this with you today, right now: make some friends. And no, not the kind you gossip about trivial matters with. You want to be making the type of friends that are working towards something similar to you. Avoid time wasters and surround yourself with people you want to be a part of your success story.

For the sake of argument, we won’t call them ‘friends’. We’ll call them ‘business partners’.

These group of people should form a ‘Master Mind’ group, where you meet up at least twice a week, learning and discussing different ventures to boost everyone’s knowledge, and become surrounded around positivity.

What are you going to do today to bring you closer to your dream? Ask yourself, ‘can I do this alone?’. If the answer is yes, then stop there. If the answer is no, then you know what to do: find yourself some business partners, now.
