Stratford rapper J HUS, was found carrying a knife after his vehicle was stopped by a marked police car in Stratford, International Way, located close to Westfield shopping centre at 12:35pm on the 21st June. Although the ‘Did You See’ artist does not have a driving license, he was found in his Audi which was being driven by a friend.

London Metropolitan police confirmed this to Newsbeat, explaining that the people inside the vehicle were searched where Momodou Jallow, better known as J Hus, was arrested on “suspicion of being in possession of a knife/bladed article”.

He appeared in front of Thames Magistrates’ Court, Bow, East London on Friday 22nd June, where he was denied bail, and is to remain behind bars until his next court date scheduled to be at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Friday July 20th.

This has caused a commotion for J Hus fans, as the MOBO & NME award-winning artist is scheduled to perform at multiple festivals and shows; these include Wireless on the 7th July, as well as performances in multiple countries such as Ireland and Spain.

Jallow’s lawyer Nahid Khaliq, talks about his influence in the music industry as a defence, telling judges to research J Hus’ music and see his influence on the industry.

This situation affects the artist’s future performances this summer, as well as his plans to also drop an album, which he told NME he planned to release by August.
